Programme Educational Objectives:
- Department of anesthesia makes sure that the candidate develops in all fronts i.e. cognitive, affective and psychomotor domain as it is important for technologists to work as member/ team leader in various clinical and critical situations in Operation Room and outside OR. Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following at the end of training. Demonstrate familiarity with diagnostic skills and laboratory procedures relevant to the diagnosis and evaluation of patients under her / His care.
- Display current and emerging standards of care as an anesthesia technologist professional along with devoting themselves to lifelong learning.
- Communicate in a professional manner, verbally and nonverbally, regarding the delivery of pre anesthesia care.
- Collaborate with the anesthesia multi-disciplinary care team in the development of an anesthesia plan of care for patients in areas to which they are assigned.
- Assist the anesthesia provider in a variety of current anesthesia techniques and use of equipment for providing anesthesia.
- Function as anesthesia technologists within appropriate professional standards, ethical and legal requirements, and accept responsibility and accountability while assisting with the delivery of patient care.
- Manage administration of anesthesia to patients of all grades of ASA risk grading and all types of surgical subspecialties both for elective and emergency procedures.
Program Outcomes (PO’s):
- Proficient in clinical presentations and case discussion during rounds and OPD work up. Preparing Documents of the case history/examination and progress notes in the file (daily notes, round discussion, Investigations and management) Skill of performing bedside procedures and handling emergencies
- To prepare competent entry-level Anesthesia Technologists in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.
- Provide a comprehensive education to prepare individuals for employment in the anesthesia technology profession.
- Stimulate technical and critical thinking in an effort to develop students' problem solving skills.
- Educate students to provide safe and quality patient care by applying knowledge to practice by means of incorporating technical and critical thinking along with clinical reasoning in assisting the anesthesia provider with patients of all types, ages, and physical conditions for a variety of surgical and medical related procedures.
- Prepare students to meet the current and emerging standards of care as an anesthesia technologist professional along with devoting themselves to lifelong learning.
- Develop and implement a curriculum that encourages collaboration with the anesthesia multi-disciplinary care team in the development of an anesthesia plan of care for patients in areas to which they are assigned, and subsequently assist the anesthesia provider in a variety of current anesthesia techniques and use of equipment for providing anesthesia. To provide support for anesthesia services to all patients, regardless of the type of anesthesia they are receiving.
- Implement curricula to prepare students to function as anesthesia technologists who function within appropriate professional standards, ethical and legal requirements, and accept responsibility and accountability while assisting with the delivery of patient care.
