BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications)

The Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) is typically three-year programs that span six semesters. It is designed to bridge the gap between the studies of computers and its applications. It aims to shape computer professionals with the right moral and ethical values and can prepare students to face the challenges and opportunities in the IT industry of India by building strong foundations.
The syllabus focuses on the core fundamentals of computer science, but generally undergoes revision according to the industry requirement with the aim of increasing employment opportunities for students. Admission to BCA can be obtained by clearing the appropriate entrance exams. BCA graduates can seek job opportunities in fields like software development, web design, systems management, quality assurance and software testing. BCA graduate can work in IT companies big and small in various roles.

Q. What is eligibility criteria for B.C.A programme? Semester-1st

A. The students who have passed 12th (HSC) Examination in science/Commerce/Arts stream with English subject are eligible to take admission.

Q. What is eligibility criteria for B.C.A lateral entry (direct in semester-III) programme?

A. Semester-3rd (Lateral entry)
The students who have passed diploma in (Computer Engineering/ Information Technology Engineering/ Electronics & Communication Engineering/ Electronic Engineering/ Electrical Engineering with minimum 50% in General category and 45% in reserved category) can get the admission in 3rd semester of BCA directly.(Admission norms are subject to change as per guidelines of University).

Introduction:

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering was established in Academic year (2013-2014) to meet the demand for well-qualified computer professionals. The Department offers a 4 year degree program in Computer Science and Engineering. The program focuses on theoretical computer science as well as software and application development.

Q. Can I apply for admission before I have the result for my qualifying examination?

A. Yes, you can begin your application process before you get your final result. For that you need to submit only the proof of passing your qualifying examination at the time of counselling/ admission.

Q. Can I get admission based only on the GLOCAL UNIVERSITY entrance test?

A. That depends on the admission criteria for the course you have opted for. We require all candidates to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria.

Q. Can I apply to more than one course? Can I do it in a single application?

A. If the courses you have opted for fall in the same group, then by all means, go ahead and state your choices in one single application form. However, if you opt for courses in different groups, then you will need to fill out separate applications.

Q. How and when are the results of the GLOCAL UNIVERSITY entrance test announced?

Q. When do I need to pay admission / tuition fee?

A. The first year fee is paid on the day of counselling/admission. Subsequent fees must be paid on the dates that will be notified through our website or candidate can call on the helpline number.

Q. Is there any agent who can help me in getting admission?

A. We have admission offices in many cities like Dehradun, Mujaffarpur, Shrinagar (J & K), Guwahati,Vikasnagar,Patna,Kanpur,Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. You can contact to any one of these offices which is nearest to you by getting contact details of these offices from our web site main page.

Q. What is a merit-cum-means scholarship?

A. We give some scholarship to those candidates who have secured good marks in their XII standard, SEE and IIT JEE, for details you can contact to our admission offices.

Q. Can I get a loan for study?

A. Yes we have provision for an education loan. We provide all the required documents for availing the education loan from the banks.

Q. If I choose to withdraw my application for admission, will I get a total refund?

A. Refund of fee is as per our refund rules.

Q. Will I get a job once I complete my course?

A. GLOCAL UNIVERSITY has an excellent placement cell and a large number of our students get placed in good companies even before they have written their final semester examinations.

Q. When I come for counselling or admission where can I stay?

A. Candidates coming for counselling and admission usually make their own arrangements for boarding and lodging but in special case you can avail accommodation in our hostels and guest houses.

Q. I am unable to travel for my counselling. What do I do?

A. No problem, we understand there might be extenuating circumstances that prevent your travel. Your admission formalities can be done by an authorized representative carrying proper authorization documents, like your parents or even a friend. Please remember fees and original documents are required for completing admission formalities.

Q. Will I get hostel accommodation after getting the admission?

A. GLOCAL UNIVERSITY is a residential institute and most of the students who are admitted are accommodated in hostels.

Q. What extracurricular activities can I pursue?

A. We have world-class sports facilities and stadiums, and many other activities you can take part in. Take a round of our campus facilities.

Q. Can I take back the original documents with me?

A. Your original documents will be retained by GLOCAL UNIVERSITY until the completion of your course. We will however give you an acknowledgement for your original documents.

Q. Do my parents need to accompany me when I come for counselling?

A. No, it is not mandatory for your parents to be come with you. 

Q. Is the mess fee included in the hostel fees?

A. Yes, the mess charges will be collected with hostel facilities fees and utility charges.

Q. Are the hostel charges included in the tuition fee?

A. No, the hostel fee is mentioned separately

Q. I am a first-year student. Is it compulsory for me to avail of the hostel accommodation?

A. We think it is a good idea for first year students to stay in the student hostels – it helps them bond together, and that in turn, improves their experience of the GLOCAL UNIVERSITY life. So it is advised to a first-year student to avail the university hostel.

B.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering

The department teaches core subjects of ECE, offers a range of subjects as electives and facilitates industrial projects, all of which prepare the students for a career after their basic degree. Efforts are made to impart as much project based learning as is feasible. Towards this, investments are made in an on-going manner in having well equipped laboratories, software tools like LABVIEW, MATLAB, SIMULINK to name a few. The department plans to undertake industry sponsored research and has started interactions with other Universities and research groups in industry. The department has dedicated faculty and staff who continuously engage in improving teaching methods and undergo faculty development programs and undertake Research.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineering is concerned with the responsible development of products, processes, energy and power, whether at the molecular scale or at the large scale of complex systems. Mechanical engineering principles and skills are needed at some stage during the conception, design, development, and manufacture of every human made object. Many innovations crucial to our future will have their roots in the world of mass, motion, forces and energy- the world of mechanical engineers.

The engineering field requires an understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, and electricity. Mechanical engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided design, and product life cycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, weapons and others.

The Faculty of School of Mechanical Engineering are highly qualified and experienced from industries, research and development organizations. Majority of our faculty members are post graduates and doctorate degree holders from elite institutes like IIT’s, NIT’s, PEC or from foreign universities.

Based on the specialization of the members of the faculty, the School has been divided into three domains such as Applied Mechanics and Machine Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Thermal Engineering and Fluid Mechanics. Q. What is mechanical engineering?

A. Mechanical engineering deals with anything that moves, including the human body, a very complex machine. Mechanical engineers learn about materials, solid and fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, control, instrumentation, design, and manufacturing to realize/understand mechanical systems. Specialized mechanical engineering subjects include biomechanics, cartilage tissue engineering, energy conversion, laser-assisted materials processing, combustion, MEMS, microfluidic devices, fracture mechanics, nanomechanics, mechanisms, micropower generation, tribology (friction and wear), and vibrations. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) currently lists 36 technical divisions, from advanced energy systems and aerospace engineering to solid waste engineering and textile engineering.

A. We are a relatively small department with a student/faculty ratio of about 16 to 1 for undergraduates. In your mechanical engineering core curriculum classes and laboratory courses, you will probably have a class size of 60. This allows our students to participate actively in the learning process and provides many opportunities to be involved in design competitions, projects, and research.

Petroleum Engineering is a discipline concerned with the activities related to the exploration, drilling, production, and transportation of crude oil and natural gas. The department provides exposure to students to both the streams of Petroleum Engineering viz. Upstream and Downstream. We also provide fundamental study on Earth Sciences, Heat and Mass Transfer, Drilling, Well logging, Reservoir engineering and Petroleum refining .Our emphasis on an industry-friendly curriculum so that the students are well familiar to the shades of the current research and market trends.

    Mentors are supposed to provide educational counselling for students.     Q. Is Petroleum Engineering about making Petrol?

    A. No. Petroleum Engineers are involved in the discovery and development of oil and gas resources, as well as accessing other resources in the earth's crust such as geothermal energy and CO₂ storage.

    A. Yes, this is known as an internal program transfer (ITP).Depending upon the student performance in first year, vacant seat in desired course and university act, can change your course in the start of your second year (only once)

    A. Yes, if you have done 3-year diploma course in Mechanical, chemical and petrochemical from well recognized institution.

    Q. How do I find out what subjects I am supposed to pick in my first year?

    A. In general, first year engineering students complete two semester with subjects like maths , physics, computing subject, engineering design and innovation and minor projects. Program guides are available in department and university IMS.

    Q. What level of computing is right for me?

    A. All engineering degrees require the completion of a computing subject. Generally this is done during your first semester.

    Q. What is assumed knowledge for engineering at Glocal University?
