Court Visit To The District And Sessions Court
Glocal Law School organized an expedition for Court Visit to the District and Sessions Court, Saharanpur on Saturday for the students of law. It was organized by Mr. Shubham Singh Bagla, Assistant Professor of Law, to aid the theoretical knowledge gained by the students with the insightful experience of how the law works in practice. The purpose of the visit was to understand the work of the court and the nature of the services the judicial officers. This visit was organized for students to understand the role of the court in dispensing justice, in which they were observed the live work of the court proceedings; the role of the public prosecutor in criminal trials, the way judges, prosecutors, and defense lawyers handle the cases.
In this visit, Students were taken to the District and Sessions Judge Office where they were introduced to the Mr. Rajiv Sharma, District and Sessions Judge, Saharanpur. The students interacted with the judge for half an hour gaining tremendously from the knowledge and experience shared by him. The students then accompanied him to the courtroom where they observed three court proceedings. He also tells their experience and some tip on how to crack the Judicial Service Exam.
Then, students were taken to the ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) Centre, where students interacted with Mr. Sunil Kumar Singh, Member Secretary, District Legal Service Authority. Followed by this, Students visited the Additional District Judge Court, Mr. Suresh Chandra Bharti and they observed the Courtroom closely. Next, the students were taken to the Chief Judicial Magistrate Office, The CJM of Saharanpur, Dr. Dinanath discussed a civil matter case with the students.
They, last visited, the Bar Association where the students met the President of Bar Association, Mr. Aditya and his general secretary and other lawyers accompanying him. He counseled the students about their career in law. He suggested them the prospects of law as the field of law is vast and gives the students ample opportunities in various fields like preparing for judicial exams, working in law firms hence providing them a secure career and also they suggested to us that focus on your career from today and do not depend on tomorrow. The court visit was a highly educational visit for the students as they were exposed to the real courtroom scene and witnessed the proceedings giving them the opportunity to understand how cases are issued and delivered in a pragmatic way of the legal profession.
