60th National Pharmacy Week Celebration
The 60th National Pharmacy Week was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Glocal School of Pharmacy, Glocal University. On this auspicious occasion, the Glocal School of Pharmacy, organized a mega health camp in the Kasampur Village. A grand ‘health & Hygiene’ awareness rally was also conducted in the nearby villages in which villagers were duly counseled about preventive measures to stop the spread of dengue, malaria, typhoid etc. Various co-curricular activities viz. Pharma quiz, pharma model, pharma rangoli and pharma poster presentations/competitions were also organized on this occasion. The program commenced with the ‘Pharmacist Oath’ taking ceremony by all the students and teachers of the School of Pharmacy. A seminar was also organized on the theme “Pharmacists: An Integral Part of Healthcare''.
The students of Glocal School of Pharmacy organized a huge health camp on this occasion in which they conducted free health check-ups of villagers like blood pressure, blood sugar, hemoglobin, blood group test etc. Free health counseling/check up was provided by the doctors of the Multi-speciality Glocal Hospital. The program was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Syed Akheel Ahmed, Vice Chancellor, Glocal University by lighting the Deep. On this occasion, he wished the students of Glocal School of Pharmacy for their bright future.
On this occasion, Dr. Satish Kumar Sharma, Pro Vice Chancellor, Glocal University and Dean, Pharmacy; Dr. Mohammad Asif Professor and Head of Department and Dr. Abdul Hafeez Associate Professor welcomed the keynote speaker Dr. Mandeep Arora, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, DIT University, Dehradun.
Dr. Satish Kumar Sharma, Pro Vice Chancellor, Glocal University explained that after completing different pharmacy courses a pharmacist can make his best contribution in the hospital, pharmaceutical industry, formulation development, quality control, quality assurance and as a community pharmacist through his domain specific technical skills and knowledge. He further apprised that Indian pharmacy professionals and pharmaceutical scientists have played an important role during COVID crisis in safeguarding public health globally.
Mr. NK Gupta, Registrar of Glocal University, gave his views on “Pharmacists: an integral part of healthcare”.
During the seminar the keynote speaker Dr. Mandeep Arora, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, DIT University, Dehradun spoke on the theme “Pharmacists: An Integral Part of Healthcare”. He highlighted the multifaceted role of Pharmacists in safeguarding the health of the society. He also spoke on the importance of OTC medicines. The winners of various events were duly rewarded with medals.
At the conclusion of the program Dr. Mohammad Asif, Professor and Head of Department, Glocal School of Pharmacy, thanked the Convener Dr. Abdul Hafeez and his team members Zaid, Asif, Monish, Rajib Das, Feroz, Ankit etc. along with all the guests, faculty members, staff and students with humility for making the program a huge success.
