About The School

The School of Life and Allied Health Sciences was started in May 2014 with the aim of producing highly trained professionals in various branches of the Biological Sciences. The main objective of the School is to provide academic training and research in the interdisciplinary areas of life sciences with a focus on extending the awareness generated from these studies to the growth of technologies. Presently, the School is offering higher studies with emphasis on a multi-disciplinary approach in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Medical Lab Technology, Medical Microbiology, Agriculture and Forestry. The school is also offering PhD programme in various disciplines of Life Sciences. The School offers career-oriented courses with the aim of providing both proper orientation and research aptitude in the growing advanced areas of Biological and Biomedical Sciences.

The School is equipped with all the modern instruments and infrastructure required for robust scientific studies. Software-based analysis program in Systematics, Genetics, Biochemical and Botanical Sciences are also available and in vogue at our laboratories. This School has appointed dynamic and highly educated faculty from the premier institutes of India and abroad. To foster research skills amongst students, mini and mega projects are given under regular assignments even at undergraduate level; dissertations are incorporated as an integral part of the curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Students are provided bigger opportunities to showcase their works/models/presentations before MNCs, industry experts and officials to enhance their carrier prospects.

Our faculties have developed training-based teaching modules for the students in interdisciplinary areas like Industrial Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Biotechnology, Immunotechnology etc. to produce highly trained professionals. Our curriculum and tutorial modules have been designed to equip the students to qualify various competitive exams such as GATE and NET with high scores. Moreover, the School also puts emphasis on students attending seminars, workshops and conferences, along with summer research internship, for a holistic learning experience. The School provides studies based on generating knowledge and collaborative learning in latest research trends supported by academic staff and by flexible computer-based interactions.

Study Scheme

One principal highlight of the School of Life and Allied Health Sciences programs is the new design of the unique study scheme. In the first term of study, students admitted to the Life and Allied Health Sciences programs enroll in compulsory courses in fundamental biology and chemistry, which serve as the foundations for subsequent specialized studies in life sciences. Then, in the second term, the study focuses on the exploration of the different majors of interest such as Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Medical Lab Technology at graduate level.
